Production of Phenolic Compounds from Catalytic Oxidation of Kraft Black Liquor in a Continuous Reactor

چکیده
Black liquor is a side stream from the pulp and paper industry containing lignin other organic inorganic materials. Catalytic alkaline oxidation of black was carried out employing CuO/TiO2 catalyst in trickle-bed reactor mild reaction conditions (150–200 °C, 80 bar) short contact times (4–9 min). The effects temperature, time, presence were investigated. In our best operating conditions, i.e., 200 °C 4 min conversion complete, phenolic monomers obtained (maximum total yield 6.2 wt %), including vanillin 3.3 %). Vanillin represented 53 % monomers. At longer times, degradation compounds observed. application continuous reactor, allowing limiting reactions, particularly appropriate for this reaction. productivity 936 g m3 h–1.

In the current study a series of pyrolysis and CO2 gasification experiments were conducted on a bed of kraft black char under a perpendicular impinging jet. The experiments demonstrated that the char bed carbon gasification rates are externally mass transfer limited. The mass transfer is further decreased by a net molar out-flow caused by the conversion of one mole of reactant CO2 to two moles ...
متن کاملAntioxidant activity of lignin phenolic compounds extracted from kraft and sulphite black liquors.
The antioxidant activity of the phenolic compounds present in industrial black liquors obtained from the two cooking processes (kraft and sulphite) used in Portugal to produce Eucalyptus globulus pulp was evaluated. The black liquors treated at several pH values were extracted with ethyl acetate. Phenolic fractions were further separated by liquid chromatography of the crude extracts of kraft l...
متن کاملStudy on the Dynamic Viscoelasticity of Bamboo Kraft Black Liquor
The dynamic viscoelasticity of bamboo kraft pulping black liquor under various temperatures (ranging from 50 to 80 °C) and solids concentrations (60 to 80 wt.%) was studied. Rotational rheometer analysis data indicated that the viscoelastic motion law with a high solids concentration in black liquor was in accordance with the Kelvin model, and black liquor with a medium concentration conformed ...
متن کاملFenton's reagent-mediated degradation of residual Kraft black liquor.
In this work, the effect of Fenton's reagent on the degradation of residual Kraft black liquor was investigated. The effect of Fenton's reagent on the black liquor degradation was dependent on the concentration of H2O2. At low concentrations (5 and 15 mM) of H2O2, Fenton's reagent caused the degradation of phenolic groups (6.8 and 44.8%, respectively), the reduction of reaction medium pH (18.2%...
